On March 26th, Near West partnered with Illinois Action For Children to celebrate Women’s History Month at Mable Manning Library. In this multi-generational event, women of all ages came out to celebrate each other. Through dance, music, fashion, etc., the ladies described what it was like growing up in the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, and so forth. Trivia was also given to youth who obtained some knowledge of the years that preceded them, and they won prizes. Illinois Action For Children provided a great lunch for all in attendance. At the pinnacle of the event, the dance team from our Youth Zone dedicated a dance for the group, combining some old dance moves with current trendy dances. Overall, 65+ people came out and enjoyed this event.
